Are you ready for a little island getaway?

 

I surely am----far, far away from the bitter cold winter here in northeastern Pennsylvania!

Every time I use Stress Away Essential Oil blend, I feel like I'm there! This blend of the essential oils copaiba, lime, cedarwood, ocotea, lavender along with vanilla leave me feeling like I'm on a tropical island, thousands of miles away from my everyday stresses! You'll want to try it too!

 

Stress Away can be used aromatically, topically, and as a dietary supplement. Most often, I roll a little bit onto my wrists and hold them at my nose taking several deep breaths.

 

Here are some other ways to use it:

 

-Dilute 1-2 drops and apply to the back of your neck and temples to minimize stress.

 

-Diffuse 8 drops of Stress Away with 4 drops of Peppermint to uplift and unwind (5pm every weekday!!!)

 

-Add 10 drops of oil to 2 cups of epsom salt. Add to a warm bath and soak for 20 minutes.

 

-Diffuse 8 drops of Stress Away with 4 drops of lavender before bedtime to promote healthy sleep.

 

-Dilute and apply to wrists or back of next to calm nerves.

 

-Add 2 drops to water and drink throughout the day to reduce stress and promote confidence.

Joy is an essential oil blend that is a combination of ten different essential oils, and some of the best smelling ones too! All together, Joy is composed of: Lemon, Mandarin, Rose, Roman Chamomile, Palmarosa, Jasmine, Rosewood, Geranium, Ylang Ylang, and Bergamot. Together they combine to create a scent sweeter than any essential oils give off on their own.

 

This blend is powerful, and it lives up to its name! It's uplifting, acts as an aphrodisiac, and fights infections and bacteria, among other things!

 

Here are some ways to use it!

Uplifting Bath: Add 2-3 drops of Joy essential oil blend to 1/2 cup epsom salts and dump into your bath for an instant mood boost.

 

Freshen Floors: Add a few drops of Joy essential oil blend to a rag, and rub down your hardwood floors. Try dabbing a few drops on a cotton ball and place it inside the canister of your vacuum.

 

Ease Anxiety: Feeling tense? Rub a drop of Joy essential oil blend on your wrists, neck, heart area, or feet.

Rejuvenating Body Lotion: Add a few drops of Joy essential oil blend to an everyday lotion for a lovely additional scent.

 

Lower Blood Pressure: If you suffer from stress-induced high blood pressure, you can calm your body naturally by applying Joy essential oil to your wrists, neck, forearms and heart area.

 

Soothe Lower Back Pain: Daily application of Joy essential oil can help alleviate lower back pain.

DIY Car Scent: This is an extremely useful application for Joy essential oil. Just put one drop on a cotton ball and stick it in the air vents of your car for a sweet scent. Otherwise, add it to a full water bottle and spritz away!

 

Alleviate Headaches: For an easy headache alleviation, take a few drops of Joy essential oil and apply them to your temples. Breathe the scent in deeply.

Increase Libido: Diffusing this essential oil in the air during a romantic night (or dabbing a little on yourself) can help set the mood.

 

DIY Scented Stationary: Just a few drops of Joy essential oil can give any stationary a luxurious scent.

 

Alleviate Menstrual Cramps: A few drops of Joy essential oil rubbed directly onto the abdomen can ease cramps.

 

Give a Romantic Massage: Add 10-12 drops of Joy essential oil to 2 oz. of massage oil.

 

Have Great-Smelling Laundry Naturally: Place a few drops of Joy essential oil on a cloth and throw it in with the rest of the laundry.

 

Improve Blood Circulation: Take 1-2 drops of Joy essential oil and rub directly onto any area with poor blood circulation. Do not use a carrier oil.

 

Brighten your Day: Diffuse Joy essential oil in the house to give everyone a nice boost. If you're alone, dab a few drops on your palm, heart area or the tip of your nose.

I think it's safe to say Lavender is probably the "#1 Essential Oil" that comes to mind for most people! It is just that popular! And for good reason! Often called the "Swiss Army Knife of Oils," there are so many uses for this one! It can be applied topically, diffused and even ingested. Gentle enough for babies, it's often used for calming! But's it's also great for us adults to get some zzzs too!

 

So I'd like to share with you my super-easy Lavender Linen Spray recipe. I keep this spray bedside and mist it on my pillows, and my kids' beds too, to help us all drift off to dreamland. In addition to the relaxation benefits, it just makes the space smell lovely too! And I really like that the fragrance is from 100% pure, natural essential oils, and not from a toxic conventional room spray!

 

Lavender Linen Spray:

1 2-oz Amber Glass Misting Bottle

10 drops Young Living Lavender Essential Oil

Tap Water

Directions: 

Drop Lavender into empty misting bottle. Fill with water. Shake well before misting.

Typically, I showcase a single oil or blend, but this week I am highlighting one my favorite combinations to diffuse: Lemon Peppermint!

 

I've been diffusing it this afternoon as I pack up the Christmas decorations, vacuum up the pine needles, and rearrange the furniture! It's the perfect combination of motivation and clean house smell!

 

These oils can be used aromatically (either inhaled or diffused), applied topically (remember to dilute), and ingested! (Please Note: I only recommend Young Living Essential Oils, especially when it comes to ingesting.)

 

Here are some more tips for using these oils together:

 

1.) Need a little “get up and go?” Diffuse lemon and peppermint to increase energy….great for early mornings! When diffusing I like to use 3 drops of peppermint and 5 drops of lemon. Peppermint can easily overpower the lemon so it's important to use more lemon. I also keep these two oils handy on long car drives. Inhaling one or both every 30 minutes or so helps to keep me alert!

 

2.) Congestion: Place a drop each of peppermint and lemon on the tongue and inhale into the nose and sinuses to relieve congestion from a cold. Or dilute and apply behind ears and on the bridge of the nose.

 

3.) Digestion: Add a drop of lemon and peppermint to water or herbal tea to aid in digestion.

 

4.) Nausea or Morning Sickness: Massage several drops of peppermint (diluted with carrier oil) on the abdomen and inhale/diffuse lemon and peppermint together.

 

5.) Fever: Rub several drops of peppermint and/or lemon along spine to reduce fever.

In keeping with the “New Year” theme of new beginnings and fresh starts, this week I am highlighting one of my favorite blends called Citrus Fresh!

 

Citrus Fresh is a blend made up of several essential oils, including orange, tangerine, mandarin, grapefruit, lemon and spearmint! It is a relaxing, calming blend that appeals to both children and adults.  It supports the immune system, as it is rich in antioxidants. It can also be used as an air purifier.

 

It can be used diffused, ingested or applied topically!

 

I really like diffusing this one because it makes my house smell clean! And although this blend has relaxing qualities, it gives me a little pick-me-up, similar to when I diffuse peppermint or lemon.

 

This blend can be ingested (adults only).  It is commonly used in the popular Weight Loss/Detox Trio! Also, I like to add a drop to a glass of water.

 

Additionally, it can be applied topically. Please dilute this blend 1:1 with a carrier oil like coconut oil, olive oil or another carrier. And remember not to apply to sin that will be exposed to direct sunlight within 12 hours!

With all the talk of New Year’s resolutions and fresh starts this week, I thought the perfect essential oil to showcase would be Lemon!

 

Emotionally and spiritually, lemon essential oil promotes focus and clarity. It’s uplifting scent awakens the senses, clears the mind of distractions, and helps a person focus on the task at hand! It can also be helpful to overcome confusion or doubt, fatigue, and lack of enthusiasm!

 

Lemon is so very versatile, and it’s one of the popular oils in Young Living’s Premium Starter Kit. In fact, it was the first oil I ran out of when I purchased my first kit! So many uses throughout the entire house; I never thought I would be brightening my complexion with the very same thing I use to clean my glass stove-top. This is some powerful stuff, yet 100% natural and gentle enough to use on my skin!

 

Here are some of the many ways it can be used:

 

For the mind:
Increase brain function and stimulate neurons by diffusing lemon essential oil for study or testing.
Inhale lemon essential oil or place a few drops on a cotton ball to rejuvenate your mind, body, and spirit.
Place a drop in your hands to inhale, rub a drop into long or short hair, or diffuse through the room during times of anxiety.

 

For the body:
Place a drop of lemon essential oil on oily skin or blemishes to help balance oil glands and minimize oil production.
Soothe corns, calluses, or bunions by rubbing lemon essential oil on the affected area morning and evening.
Massage lemon essential oil into cellulite to help improve circulation and eliminate waste from cells.
Add lemon essential oil to a cup of water in the morning for a detoxifying and pH balancing drink.
Add several drops of lemon essential oil to a chicken marinade for a delicious dinner.
For a natural hand sanitizer, rub a drop on your hands.
Combine lemon with a small amount of coconut oil and use as a wrinkle reducing moisturizer.
Diffuse lemon oil for 15 to 20 minutes in the bedroom before bedtime to soothe a cough.
Apply a drop of lemon oil to the tongue to freshen breath.
Lemon oil promotes healing and decreases likelihood of infection when using a small amount on the site of the bite or sting.
Add a very small dab directly to the cold sore. Dilute it with coconut oil and use it as a lip balm to prevent cold sores during common times of flareup.
To ease constipation dilute 1 drop of lemon essential oil to 5-10 drops of coconut oil and massage in a gentle clockwise direction over the abdomen.
Reduce the discomfort of heartburn by massaging lemon oil across the arches and pads of the feet and down the throat, sternum and stomach.

 

In the home:
Combine 2–3 drops of lemon essential oil with water in a spray bottle to help cleanse and sanitize surfaces.
Add 10–15 drops of lemon essential oil to a gallon of natural carpet cleaning solution to help pull out stains, brighten carpet and rugs, and leave a fresh smell in the room.
Add 10-15 drops to water and use as a stain remover for laundry.
Use 1–2 drops to remove gum, oil, grease spots, glue or adhesive, and crayon from most surfaces.
Place a few drops of lemon essential oil on a cotton ball and put in the refrigerator or garbage can to help eliminate odors.
Add lemon essential oil to baking soda and water and use as an all natural soft scrub.
To clean and increase the shelf life of fresh fruits and vegetables, fill a bowl with cool water and 2-3 drops of lemon essential oil. Place produce in water, stir around so all surfaces come in contact with the lemon.
Soak dish clothes in a bowl of water with 1-2 drops of lemon essential oil overnight to kill germs.
Add to water or a smoothie for a refreshing pick-me-up.
For a natural furniture polish, add several drops to a half cup of olive oil or beeswax.

As we’re now full-swing into the holiday season, I thought it would be the perfect time to showcase Peppermint.

 

 

Peppermint is one of the most popular oils, as it really is so versatile! Plus, it’s one of the 11 “Everyday Oils” in Young Living’s Premium Starter Kit. The “Everyday Oils” are named such because you will find yourself using the oils every single day for a variety of reasons, and Peppermint is no exception. Check out some of the different ways you can use it!

 

Top 10 Uses for Peppermint Essential Oils

1. Headaches: To relieve headache, rub a drop of peppermint essential oil on the temples, forehead, over the sinuses (avoid the eyes!), and on the back of the neck.

2. Itching: Apply a drop of peppermint topically on unbroken skin to stop itching.

3. Congestion: Place a drop of peppermint on the tongue and inhale into the nose and sinuses to relieve congestion from a cold. (Note: I only recommend Young Living, especially when it comes to ingesting certain oils.)

4. Nausea or Morning Sickness: Massage several drops of peppermint on the abdomen (I like to use a carrier oil) or diffuse.

5. Inflammation: Massage several drops of peppermint on an area of injury or chronic inflammation (unbroken skin only).

6. Fever: Rub several drops of peppermint on the bottoms of the feet to reduce fever.

7. Heartburn, Indigestion, Bloating, and Diarrhea: Rub 4 - 6 drops of peppermint essential oil in the palm and rub over the stomach and around the navel to relieve discomfort.

8. Heartburn: Add a drop of peppermint to herbal tea to aid in digestion and relieve heartburn.

9. Poison Ivy & Poison Oak: Mix a couple drops of peppermint in a little bit of olive or coconut oil and apply on infected area.

10. Ticks: Apply a drop of peppermint to a cotton swab and then gently place on the tick. Wait for it to withdraw its head from the skin and then remove with tweezers.

 

Did you know one oil could handle all of that? Pretty amazing, right? Plus, 100% pure, therapeutic-grade Young Living essential oils can be used to flavor food.
