Q: What can I first expect to experience in a yoga class?
A: At the beginning of each week, Shawn selects a "Pose of the Week" and posts an instructional video on our Facebook Page and Resources page. The classes for that week will be designed around the movements and counter-movements of that particular pose.
In class, there will be strengthening and stretching exercises targeting certain muscle groups related to the Pose of the Week, as well as breathing exercises and cool-down resting poses.
Q: How are WT yoga classes different?
A: We believe that if exercise isn't fun, there won't be motivation to keep doing it. As such, our classes offer upbeat music and a fun, relaxed atmosphere. We encourage students to talk with each other, laugh as you challenge yourself to achieve a higher level or practice, and ask our instructor for support and assistance when needed. Our yoga offerings are about more than just relaxation and breath work. Our classes are fitness based, so you can expect to break a sweat, get a great workout, and alleviate tension and stress.
Q: Who are your classes designed for?
A: Our yoga classes are for EVERYONE! All of our classes and series offerings are appropriate for every level of experience, from the newbie with no prior yoga experience to the advanced yogi practitioner. We believe yoga is a perfect addition to any fitness routine and compliments the work many of our clients are doing in their health coaching or counseling programs. Students of all genders, ages, shapes, and sizes attend our yoga classes and we welcome everyone to try our yoga offerings to see if it's the right fit for them.
Q: How do I get the most out of my yoga practice?
A: Much like in our Nutrition and Counseling programs, we believe that homework in between sessions yields the best progress and results. In each class, Shawn will provide tips, suggestions, and homework for you to work on between yoga classes to help you reach your whole body health goals. We encourage all our students to maintain a home based yoga practice and are here to support and guide you in successfully maintaining such a practice.
