MANAGING SYMPTOMS EFFECTIVELY WITH MEDICATION

Sometimes, therapy isn’t enough.

For some people — especially those living with acute distress, medical conditions, mood disorders, or neurological issues, like ADHD — medication may be needed to manage symptoms effectively.

That’s where our psychiatry and medication management services come in.

Psychiatry: About Me

How Psychiatry Works

FORMAL DIAGNOSIS & MEDICATION TREATMENT

Our psychiatric providers will complete a thorough psychiatric evaluation and gather a comprehensive clinical picture of what you’re experiencing. Once a diagnosis has been made, your provider will provide a detailed explanation of what that means for you and make treatment recommendations.

If medication is indicated, your provider will prescribe and manage your medications on an ongoing basis.

Psychiatry: About Therapy

Because we care deeply about your well-being, we see all psychiatry clients for regular follow-up visits. During these sessions, we assess your symptoms, determine if the medication is working for you, and adjust your medication and/or treatment plan as needed to get you feeling your absolute best!

Why See a Psychiatrist Instead of a Family Doctor?

PSYCHIATRISTS SPECIALIZE IN MENTAL HEALTH

Primary Care Doctors (PCP) are general practitioners and treat a variety of medical conditions. Psychiatrists have specialized education and training in mental health. Psychiatrists are also more knowledgeable about current, cutting-edge treatments for mental health issues.

PSYCHIATRISTS DIAGNOSE MORE ACCURATELY

Psychiatrists spend all day, every day, evaluating and treating mental health conditions. As such, they have vast experience distinguishing between physical and mental illnesses and can easily determine normal vs. abnormal mental health conditions.

PSYCHIATRISTS OFFER MORE MEDICATION OPTIONS

New mental health medications are made every day, and psychiatrists are the ones who receive information & education about innovative medication options that can treat your symptoms most effectively. If your PCP prescribed a medication that didn't work for you, a psychiatrist can find one that does.

PSYCHIATRISTS TREAT MORE EFFECTIVELY

Because psychiatrists have extensive experience treating mental illness, they're better able to select medications that will treat your particular symptoms. We also use genetic testing to gain insight into your unique genetic makeup, which helps us determine the best medication for you quickly & reduces the number of medication changes you'll experience.

Finding the Right Fit

Many clients come to us after trying a series of psychiatric medications that just haven’t worked for them. Whether it be intolerable side effects, ineffective meds that didn’t improve your symptoms, or medications that made you feel worse, we’re here to sort through the problems you’ve experienced with medications in the past and help you find relief.

Innovative Genetic Testing

At Willow Tree, we offer Genesight Testing- a simple genetic test that generates a list of medications that work best with your unique genetic makeup.

The test involves an easily collected cheek swab which is sent to the lab for testing. Once your Genesight report is received, we can narrow down medication options that will yield the greatest results in improving your symptoms while minimizing side effects- without switching medications frequently or wasting time testing medications to see what works.
